I wanted to tell you guys about this new website I made. It's called The Organic Girls and is exactly what it sounds like - going organic!!! (Don't give me that blank stare...) I don't know ANYTHING about going organic, but Jon and Kate do it - so it must be worthwhile. Seriously though, it's going to have everything from "What the Heck is Organic Anyway?" to beauty booty, clothing, kid stuff, and much more! I am really excited about it well...because I will be learning about organic living in the process. And I'm looking for a few people to learn with me! (Or if you're already an organic buff - I'm green with envy...tee hee)
Seriously though, I am horrible. I don't recycle, my shampoo is FULL of sodium laureth sulfate, my face creams are chock full of stuff I can't pronounce, and I counted the amount of products I put on my body today - guess how many? Eighteen! Eighteen things EVERY SINGLE day! (Although one of them IS Jergens Naturals Lotion...so that doesn't count.) I am wasteful, I use too much of everything, and I buy the cheapest possible stuff (even if it has been known to causes cancer in lab rats in California...) But I LOVE Burts Bees, so this totally gives me an excuse to buy it! But even if I DO do all those things, are they really bad for me? What does it mean to have "sulfates" in your shampoo and why is it so bad for you?
This is going to be a very "adventurous" and "experimental" site. It will explore all things organic and GREEN! It will also explore our assumptions - like are paper cups REALLY better? (surprise - no they're not!), is buying from a huge retail store worse? Do you have to pay 65% more for everything to go organic? Does EVERYTHING I do have to be green or organic? Is there a downside? I'm not a treehugger - now what?
Needless to say, this is a HUGE HUGE area that is just waiting to be totally tapped into by us young, (and young at heart) women who are moms, wives, college students, grandmas, aunts - who want to look good, feel good, and do good for our families all while making the world a better place for our posterity. (See I used a big word there.)
So I am looking for contributors! If you want to explore this with me, and be an Official Organic Girl (you even get a cute illustration made to look like you, tee hee) let me know! I'd like anywhere from three to six total Organic Girls, and am hoping for a wide variety of women to show what they've got!
I am SO excited about this! Actually I waited to post this for a week because I wanted to "go organic" or at least try for one whole week. I will do a post on how it went here soon. But needless to say, I feel AMAZING, my skin is SO clear and soft...it has been awesome.
So if you're interested either shoot me an e-mail or leave a comment...and even leave a comment telling me your thoughts!

14 really, really, ridiculously good looking comments:
I think I've got some great ideas about growing your own organic foods. Shopping at farmer's markets, the things to watch out for to make sure things are organice and even making organic body scrubs, etc.
I think that would be a good niche for me if you're interested.
I'm not sure what all you are getting into with the website, but I have my LEED accreditation (green building certification) and an an interior designer by trade, so I'd love to do decorating in the home or something like that. I'm also super allergic to anything fragranced that's not organic, so I know a lot about that, too!
I'm good at deciphering organic vs. "all natural" when shopping if that counts for anything.
This sounds like a cool project, and I'd be interested. :-)
Hi, April, please count me in, I have alot of experience with organic skin care, vitamin supplements, and gardening. Thanks!
Sending my best prayers to your SIL and her family, I haven't forgotten.
This sounds awesome! I just shot you an email. :)
I think this is a fabulous idea! Although, I am a rookie, it has been something that I have been wanting to do for my family for a long time:0)
Living in Germany for six years, I learned a thing or two about recycling...I'd be willing to share! Count me in!
This is a great idea I have slowly started going green I would be willing to share and learn.
Not sure if you've got all your organic girls, but I'm going to shoot you an email now, too. I've slowly been crossing over to the organic side since 2004, becoming more crunchy by the day. :)
Sounds great!!
I probably know more about natural medicines and natural herbs to keep us from having to go to the doctor, etc. (homeopathics....although NOT CERTIFIED)
I have four children, and in the last seven years...only 1 trip to the doctor for a cold. (she was my first baby, so I was a little more "scared!" ;)
If you ever need any more input, let me know. Seems like you have a lot of help.
If you don't have enough people, I'm interested.
Hey!
If you need any help or more people I'd be interested!

I don't do much "green" or organic stuff, but I would be willing to learn and offer my non-expert reviews, commentary.
